Needed: Flexible
Function:
Latin America in general—The Latin American conferences that relate with Mennonite Mission Network are working hard on leadership development, and, in general, have ongoing interest in the participation of Anabaptist professors from other countries. Professors teach courses that help students sturead and study the Bible with Anabaptist understandings, and help prepare them for teaching and leadership responsibilities. Short courses may fill a specific need, or a longer-term position may develop. There is a growing interest in the region in sharing materials to develop stronger programs. A person with curriculum development background could be very helpful in a number of countries and/or in a traveling role. While only the Colombia Mennonite Church has written a job description, when interest is expressed in this kind of ministry involvement, we can explore specific possibilities with partner churches and institutions.
Bolivia—The Bolivia Mennonite Church holds retreats for pastors and other church leaders several times a year and also offers continuing education seminars. The Bolivian Evangelical University in Santa Cruz may welcome professors on a longer-term basis (semester or more), and this could give an opportunity to also teach in the Mennonite churches. Specific possibilities would need to be discussed when there is an interested candidate.
Term: Generally three months or longer, but could be less for certain types of workshops
Language: Fluent in Spanish to teach
Position specific qualifications: Experienced professor; Anabaptist theological commitment
