Menno Village is a food and agricultural initiative of Mennonite churches in Hokkaido. Volunteers are desired to help with building or demolition projects and with the regular workings of the farm. Volunteers would also participate in the daily prayer and food life of Menno Village, which includes growing and preparing food, eating together, and cleaning up after meals. Volunteers with skills in carpentry, welding and concrete would be extremely helpful. It is critical that volunteers be prepared to work independently, requiring minimal supervision or guidance. Hours are approximately 30 hours per week. Opportunities to experience Japanese culture, to worship with the Mennonite churches in Sapporo, and other personal activities on the weekends will round out this experience. SOOP volunteers are responsible for travel costs. Lodging: Housing provided at Menno Village. Contributions of $160 per couple per week are requested for these accommodations.
