The immigrant assistant will focus on a variety of Immigrant Integration efforts that include adult ESL instruction, citizenship education, life-skills education, after-school tutoring for immigrant children, and helping immigrants navigate local institutions and options for their families. As time allows, assist staff with clients seeking legal assistance with temporary residency applications, legal residency, specialty visas for victims of domestic violence and other crimes, and citizenship applications.
Qualifications:
This position requires at least moderate fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, with an openness to increasing fluency. Past experience with cross-cultural living – especially within Latino communities – a plus. The position involves multi-tasking within a staff team, drawing on communication, research, teaching, social work and community outreach skills.
