MIS was established with the help of United World Mission and exists to send out national missionaries to towns and villages of Interior Senegal. They have over sixty full-time national workers in agriculture, community development, evangelism and health in a predominately Muslim region. MIS was started by United World Mission and Jose Oliviera. Today it is an arm of the Fraternité Evangelique du Senegal.

Mennonite ministries in Senegal have consulted with MIS on strategy and vision. Annelise Goldschmidt, a French Mennonite and International Partnership Associate with Mennonite Mission Network serves as the logistics coordinator for MIS.
