Wiebe-Johnson joins church relations team

ELKHART, Ind. (Mennonite Mission Network)—Steve Wiebe-Johnson, currently the Mennonite Mission Network director for Africa, will join the Mission Network church relations team as a half-time church relations associate for the west.

In his new role with church relations, Wiebe-Johnson will relate to churches from Pacific Southwest, Pacific Northwest, Mountain States and Gulf States conferences.

Wiebe-Johnson, who has been Africa director for 10 years, will continue to oversee ministries in Africa, with some responsibilities shifting to long-term workers and partners who live in the region.

Wiebe-Johnson has served as a conference liaison with Pacific Southwest Conference for more than 10 years, and is also a part of that conference’s mission committee.

Sandy Miller, director of church relations, said Wiebe-Johnson’s 10 years as a mission worker in Africa, and his involvement with mission at his home church, Prairie Street Mennonite Church in Elkhart, will make him a valuable member of the church relations team.

“I believe members of these conferences will find his exuberance for mission and his ability to listen carefully to people from all areas of the church helpful as they consider what God is calling them to in their particular contexts,” Miller said.

Wiebe-Johnson will begin to transition April 1 and as of August 1 will move fully into these two half-time roles.
