HARRISONBURG, Va. (Mennonite Media) — Mennonite Media’s 2008 documentary Embracing Aging: Families Facing Change has won an Award of Distinction in the Communicator Awards.
Judged and overseen by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, the Communicator Awards received more than 8,500 entries. The Award of Distinction goes to entries which receive a score of 7.0 to 8.9, while Award of Excellence Winners receive a score of 9.0 or above.
Another documentary, Finding Hope in Recovery: Families Living with Addiction, picked up an Award of Distinction in the Videographer Awards, an annual awards competition of the video production industry. There were about 2,100 entries in the Videographers Awards 2008 competition with approximately 17 percent of entries winning the Award of Distinction and 14 percent winning the higher, Award of Excellence award. Videographer Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professions.
Embracing Aging features families, experts and seniors sharing insights on aging, housing choices, facing illness, and cooperating as siblings in the care of aging parents. It aired on ABC-TV stations January 6- Feb. 24, 2008. EmbracingAging.com is the program’s website.
Finding Hope premiered on Hallmark Channel Dec. 30, 2007, and will air on ABC-TV stations beginning January 4, 2009. This documentary examines the role that chemical dependency plays in family dynamics and features five family stories along with analysis by experts.
