Philip Bender was one of 24 English teachers, out of more than 2,000 in the Chengdu municipality, to receive a "2008 Excellent Foreign Teachers in Chongqing Award” on Dec. 18, 2008.
Bender, whose position is facilitated by Mennonite Partners in China, serves through Mennonite Church Canada Witness and Mennonite Mission Network. Chongqing Medical University nominated him for the award.
