Hannah Lehman, a participant with the Tucson, Arizona, Mennonite Voluntary Service (MVS) unit, takes you along for a “typical” day of work in her placement with Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona (CHRPA).
At CHRPA, Lehman, along with fellow MVS participant Patrick Webb, provide home repair and accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners in Tucson and Pima county. On a given day, that might look like HVAC repair, installing a water heater, plumbing, or building a wheelchair ramp and deck from scratch!
“One of the best feelings in the world is taking a nap on a deck you just built,” said Lehman.

MVS is a service program of Mennonite Mission Network for young adults ages 20+. Participants join an intentional community with peers, serve with a local nonprofit, and plug into the neighborhood and local congregation. For more information and to apply, click here.
