Cindy Cumberbatch

Mission and leadership experience: Cumberbatch was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She received her Bachelor of Arts in environmental design from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She moved to Florida to attend the University of South Florida, where she earned a Master of Business Administration in 2010, with concentrations in marketing and entrepreneurship. Cumberbatch, then, went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2014. She is currently a partner in the Tampa, Florida office of a nationwide firm.

While at Stetson, Cumberbatch was involved in several on-campus organizations, most notably the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). She was a member of the BLSA executive board, serving as chaplain, and competed as a member of the BLSA trial team.

Mentorship and community service are very important to Cumberbatch. She is the assistant director of Let’s Talk College, a mentorship program that helps middle school and high school students see higher education as an expectation rather than an exception. At the same time, she was a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Florida program for nearly six years.

In her free time, she enjoys playing her instruments — bass guitar, acoustic guitar, drums and keyboard — cooking, baking, and spending time with friends and her dog, Calypso.
