Thousands of "newcomers," or Aussiedler (ethnic German immigrants from the former Soviet Union), arrive in Germany every year. Many seek a new spiritual life and Christian community as they struggle to adapt to a new culture.
In 1994, the Mennonite congregation in Berlin decided to reach out to the Aussiedler, and invited workers from the United States to join them. These immigrants are bringing new life to Mennonite congregations in Berlin and Niedergoersdorf.
