Mission
Mennonite Mission Network exists to lead, mobilize and equip the church to participate in holistic witness to Jesus Christ in a broken world.
Vision
We envision every congregation and all parts of the church being fully engaged in mission — across the street, all through the marketplaces and around the world.
We join together with all Christians and numerous partners around the world to accompany marginalized people, to provide haven and seek peace and justice in oppressed communities, and to share our hope in God.
Conventional wisdom says that wielding power is the way to bring about peace and justice. In many nations, the most concentrated power is found in corporations and government. Our calling is not to rule the world or even save it. Ours is to be faithful, wherever we are, in whatever stage of life we find ourselves, in whatever vocation we’ve been given. Urging those in power toward more just policies is part of our work as is service to the poor and oppressed and supporting the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
History
In 2002, Mennonite Mission Network, led by then executive director Stanley Green, joined the mission agencies of Mennonite Church and General Conference Mennonite Church upon the merger of the two denominations into Mennonite Church USA. The 20th anniversary in 2022 is a milestone made possible through a legacy of ministry that stretches back more than 100 years across multiple predecessor agencies.

Leadership
“What in your story, in your here and now, fleshes out what God is doing in and through you, to bring loving reconciliation to the world?”
Affiliation
Mission Network is one of five programs of Mennonite Church USA. The other four are:
As an agency of MC USA, Mission Network has a relationship of accountability and collegiality with the MC USA Executive Board. We are separate institutions with separate identities, boards, and mandates, even though we intersect at many places. We serve the whole church to join in God’s reconciling mission.
We work with congregations and organizations, both inside and outside of Mennonite Church USA, who come together around a common vision and are able to collaborate effectively and create productive ministries. Different perspectives can offer strength to common work.
Description
Mission Network joins its partners next door and around the globe to participate in God’s work in the lives of people throughout the world. Our partners’ various cultural and societal contexts inform and drive our actions. We join into relationships with intercultural humility and abundant love so that we can learn from each other and share together in God’s abundance.
What makes us different?
A leader in relational ministry, Mission Network uses everyone’s gifts and encourages learning for all. We support existing faith communities and facilitate new faith communities by working with local leaders. We seek to learn from and serve all people, especially the least served.
Besides recruiting long- and short-term workers and volunteers of all ages, partnering with churches and organizations, and aiding in church plantings, our current activities include:
- Biblical and theological education
- Community development
- Creation care
- Learning about what makes for peace and working for justice and reconciliation
Mission Network has 81 workers/participants currently serving in the United States and international locations.
Our volunteers, workers and staff play integral roles in transforming community social systems relating to health, education, immigration, food, housing and more. Join in this shared mission of actively working toward a more peaceful and just world.
