Standing ready for the work of God

Mike Sherrill is Executive Director of Mennonite Mission Network.

As we continue through Lent, Mike Sherrill reminds us that it is Mission Network’s calling to passionately participate in God’s mission of love across the street and around the world. We stand ready to provide eye-witness testimonies of what God has done. Some days we feel more ready than other days — and Lent provides a good time to assess our readiness and to reconnect with the heartbeat of God within us.

Reflections on the featured artist

The song that I have for you is titled "Completely" by Jen Ledger. Jen was born in 1989 in Coventry, England. She started playing the drums at the age of 13. At the age of 16, she gave her life to Jesus. And at the age of 18, she joined the Christian rock band Skillet. After 10 years as Skillet’s drummer and backup vocalist, Jen went solo with her own band, Ledger, in 2018. Her song "Completely" is a celebration of God’s love.

There are some beautiful words in there. Just a couple to highlight that stood out to me:

  • "You take the chaos that’s in me and you create a symphony."
  • "From whom I was, who I am and who I’ll be."
  • "I’m changed. I’m yours eternally."

I just love the joy in this song, the release, the letting go. I’m loved completely. I can let go and let God work in me.
