Isaac Villegas, pastor of Chapel Hill Mennonite Fellowship in Durham, N.C., will discuss the importance of baby dedication as the featured guest on this week’s Shaping Families radio program.

The program will also air for the first time on WUME 95.3 out of Paoli, Ind., bringing the total number of stations carrying the program to 18.

Villegas, a graduate of Duke Divinity School, Durham, began attending Chapel Hill Fellowship while a student and soon found himself on the preaching roster. He was installed as pastor in 2007 and is currently engaged in a pastoral study project to visit a wide variety of Mennonite congregations across the United States, funded by The Louisville Institute.

On Shaping Families, he discusses the vows Mennonite congregations take upon the dedication of a child and the promise of the parents to “gladly surrender your child to the ministry God has in mind for him or her, even if it might involve going to the ends of the earth.” Villegas also shares practical ways churches can minister to families in their midst, such as offering a free babysitting night so parents with children can have a night out.

The opportunity to air on the Paoli station was made possible by sponsors Raymond James & Associates and Paoli Mennonite Church, arranged by Jamey Sullivan. Others interested in sponsoring Shaping Families on local stations can contact Sheri Hartzler at 800-999-3534 or sherih@thirdwaymedia.org.
