Carol Honderich, event coordinator for Mennonite Church USA, will write a new column called Glimpses of God’s Hand twice a month for the Third Way Café website.
Honderich will write the website’s spiritual reflection column in the “Sip of Scripture” section, previously titled “Pondering at the Well."
Honderich will write about various women of the Bible, a theme she began exploring in 2000. “We will consider how God provided for these women in their difficult circumstances and consider what lessons God may have for us,” Honderich said. She points out how all through the Bible, stories of often poor, marginalized, powerless women provide glimpses of God’s hand as God provided in amazing and miraculous ways.
“God invited these women to become part of his redeeming work,” Honderich notes . “I find these stories to be a great encouragement and challenge and I look forward to the discipline of study, reflection and writing in this format.”
In addition to her role with Mennonite Church USA, Carol enjoys combining her love of Bible study with quilting, speaking, teaching, designing faith-based quilts and finding ways to build community around quilt activities and Bible study. Her quilting adventures include leading annual quilt/spiritual retreats. In 2008 she traveled to Mongolia to teach quilting at a women’s center there. Carol is mother to three young adults and lives in Goshen, Ind., with her husband, Martin.
