Christliche Dienste is the voluntary service arm of the German-wide Mennonite Conference AMG. They have been sending German volunteers to MMN’s service programs for several decades, and occasionally a U.S. volunteer works for them.
Christliche Dienste (CD) was founded in 1986 as a means for supporting mission service and peace projects around the world, not only financially, but also by sending service workers. Although CD is run by the AMG conference (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Mennonitischer Gemeinden in Deutschland), applicants come from other denominations as well. CD is part of a network of other voluntary service organizations and quality consortiums.
Following Jesus’ commission, CD strives to demonstrate God’s love, to have an attitude of service, as well as promote justice, peace and the preservation of creation.
Mennonite Mission Network and our predecessor agencies have partnered with Christliche Dienste through the Mennonite Voluntary Service and Service Adventure programs for more than 20 years. Uusually CD has sent participants to the U.S. and a few times someone from the U.S. volunteered with CD in Germany.
