Tokyo Area Fellowship of Mennonite Churches

Tokyo Area Fellowship of Mennonite Churches is a group of five
Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in the Tokyo area.

The pastors of these churches come from varied backgrounds, and some formerly served as pastors in Hokkaido and Kyushu. The Tokyo fellowship is not a conference, but an Anabaptist ecumenical fellowship. Its identity is derived from the Anabaptist emphasis on peace and discipleship. Related programs include the Tokyo Anabaptist Center, the Anabaptist Mennonite Educational Network, and the Japan Mennonite Literature Association. The Yayoidai Church supports the ministries of Mission Network workers Kaz and Lois Enomoto.

Mennonite mission work started in Japan in the 1950s. Most began in small cities and towns but as more people moved into big cities, the need arose for a Mennonite church in Tokyo. In the 1970s, Mennonite churches in the Tokyo area formed a coalition to share Christ and promote Anabaptism. Recently, Anabaptist Mennonite Educational Network was started to provide Biblical education courses to assist the churches in developing their missional character. It also provides leadership training within Tokyo fellowship and Brethren in Christ as well as promoting Anabaptism to the wider Christian circle.
