1 Ministry with Youth - Dominican Republic
Mission associate Linda Riegsecker, Dominican
Republic, requests prayer that students attending summer
camps on the Santiago Christian School campus will hear
the message of God’s love for them.
2 Ministry with Youth - North Africa
Pray for a young couple reaching out to share the good
news with university students in a North African nation.
Ask God to open doors for this couple to serve long-term.
3 Ministry with Children - U.S./Colombia
The Cheyenne children of Koinonia Mennonite Church
in Clinton, Okla., established a relationship with children
in Colombia through the mission bank project. Pray for
a reciprocal relationship and an understanding of each
others’ culture.
4 Ministry with Youth - International
Youth Venture teams are serving this summer in
Bolivia, Canada, Israel, Northern Ireland and the U.S.
Pray for participants and team leaders who provide
spiritual and discipleship direction.
5 Ministry with Children and Youth - Bolivia
This month approximately 80 children and teenagers
attend a retreat planned by Mennonite churches in Santa
Cruz, Bolivia. Mission worker Margrit Kipfer Barrón asks
for prayer that the youth will grow in their spiritual lives.
6 Ministry with Youth - Media
Please pray for Wayne Gehman as he edits and posts
video clips on Mennonite Media’s Third Way Café Web
site for youth groups, small groups and people discussing
Jesus’ response to life issues.
7 Ministry with Children - South Africa
Christine and Phil Lindell Detweiler request prayer for this week’s
vacation Bible club held as an outreach to neighborhood children at
Breakthru Church in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
8 Church Ministry - Mongolia
Mission worker Petrus H. requests prayer for students at the
Bible school in Ulaanbaatar now doing field education and pastoral
internships at churches, schools and summer camps in many regions of
Mongolia.
9 Church Ministry - U.S.
In Mission Network’s information technology department, two staff
members have been affected by health issues. Pray for strength for the
remaining IT staff dealing with a backlog of work.
10 Church Ministry - Japan
Please pray for Kaz and Lois Enomoto and their children, Erika
and Kent, as they leave Tokyo today for North American ministry.
Pray that they and all mission workers on NAM will be refreshed and
strengthen relationships with partner congregations.
11 Church Ministry - Botswana
Glyn Jones and Susan Allison-Jones, Botswana, request prayer for
the couples who are finishing an eight-week Alpha marriage course this
month. Pray that their marriages and their witness to others will be
strengthened.
12 Church Ministry - Argentina
Today Gretchen and Keith Kingsley, Argentina, are facilitating one
of a series of monthly Bible studies and workshops for two indigenous
churches in Barrio Toba. Pray that this will encourage church members
in the life of the church.
13 Church Ministry - U.S.
Pray for the leadership of Rehoboth Mennonite Church, St. Anne,
Ill., as it seeks a pastoral leader and explores partnerships to energize
the congregation for growth and self-sufficiency.
14 Church Ministry - Thailand
Mission workers Pat and Rad Houmphan, Thailand, request prayer
for Samarn and Somlid, an Isaan pastoral couple beginning a new
church in Kosum Phisai. Pray that they will build relationships that
lead to a breakthrough for the gospel.
15 Church Ministry - South Asia
Pray for rested bodies and spirits for a mission worker couple
returning this month to the Himalayan region of South Asia during
the hot, rainy, humid season.
16 Church Ministry - U.S.
The Anabaptist Mennonite congregations in Atlanta are reassessing
their collective involvement in issues in their communities. Pray that they
will discern strategies that speak to the needs of people to whom they
relate.
17 Church Ministry - England
Pray for Vic Thiessen at London Mennonite Centre as he hosts the
biennial London Mennonite Theology Forum tomorrow through Sunday.
Christians from many denominations all over Europe come to discuss
issues pertinent to Mennonite theology.
18 Church Ministry - U.S.
Pray for wisdom for Tony Brun who is teaching a course on
Anabaptism today and tomorrow to Instituto Bíblico Anabautista students
in Pasadena, Texas.
19 Community Service - China
Pray for the Christian congregations in Sichuan, China, ministering
to people suffering from the earthquake with help from Mennonite
Partners in China. Remember a Chinese partner as he supports and
encourages these congregations.
20 Community Service - U.S.
Pray for SOOP volunteers supporting the ministry of Mennonite
church camps this summer through their service as hosts, kitchen staff,
and cleaning and maintenance assistants.
21 Community Service - U.S.
Hugo Saucedo began as director of Mennonite Voluntary Service on
June 1. Pray for him as he is oriented to the vision and assumes leadership
responsibilities of MVS.
22 Community Service - Mongolia
This summer Drew and Mary Ellen Robinson and children will
relocate to Darkhan, Mongolia. Pray for Drew as he seeks to sell their
home in western Mongolia and searches for a new place for the family
to live.
23 Community Service - U.S.
Service Adventure leaders gather for orientation today through
Sunday in Albuquerque, N.M. Pray for a time of learning and sharing
and for God’s leading in plans for the upcoming year.
24 Community Service - Mongolia
Marlow and Vicky Ramsay, Mongolia, request prayer for Joint
Christian Services International staff and employees as they transition
from an interim director to a newly-appointed director, Kwai Lin
Stephens.
25 Community Service - U.S.
Pray that DOOR (Discovering Opportunities for
Outreach and Reflection) will find the right person to fill the
position of the city director in Hollywood, Calif.
26 Community Service - South Korea
Pray for Jae-Young Lee, Korea Anabaptist Center peace
program coordinator, in his work of restorative justice.
Thank God for recent opportunities to provide training and
networking for a group of Korean mediators.
27 Literacy - Burkina Faso
With the completion of the third year of literary classes,
207 more Siamou people in Burkina Faso are able to read and
write in their own language. Join Lillian Nicolson in praise to
God for a successful literacy campaign
28 Teaching - South Africa
Anna and Joe Sawatzky, South Africa, request prayer
for mission colleagues who will work with Bethany Bible
School in August while the Sawatzkys are on North American
ministry.
29 Translation - Argentina
Richard and Ruth Friesen in Argentina ask for prayer
that the revision of the Toba New Testament, completed this
month, will bless many people. Pray for the three members on
the revision team, two of whom will be unemployed.
30 Teaching - Burkina Faso
Pray for Lillian and Norm Nicolson doing language
learning in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Norm is studying
French and Lillian is improving skills in the Jula language.
31 Teaching - Japan
Aoyama Gakuin Women’s Junior College in Tokyo,
where Mike Sherrill teaches, holds its summer camp August
1–3. Pray for students who attend—both believers and not-yet-
believers.
