Service Opportunities: Volunteer opportunities in Carlsbad include Boys and Girls Club, possibly Habitat for Humanity, Living
Desert, Head Start, thrift store, soup kitchen, maintenance/repair, nursing home and hospice. Carlsbad is a
small town in southeastern New Mexico. The climate is dry and mild. The famous Carlsbad Caverns are
close by, as well as other recreational activities, including affordable golfing. The local Mennonite church
is small, so it offers many possibilities to become actively involved.
Lodging: RV parks and long-term motel arrangements are available. Opportunities run from Christmas through March.

Navajo BIC Overcomers is a Christ-centered Bible-based residential drug
and alcohol rehabilitation program administering to the Native American
male. It is the mission of Navajo BIC Overcomers to eliminate the
existence of chemical dependency and contribute to the constructive
lifestyle of its clients while raising the standard of living though
application of Christian principles and long term development of life
management skills. Volunteers generally would be with the men during
their free time, interacting with table games, puzzles and forming
relationships. Volunteers would assist with preparing the evening meal
Monday through Thursday as well as share grocery-shopping duties.
Lodging: Volunteers would have their own self-contained apartment, fully furnished.
