Orientation schedule
Please plan to arrive at the camp on Monday, August 4, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to register and get ready for our first activity. Orientation will end around 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8. You are expected to attend all sessions. On Thursday evening there will be a special time to share songs, readings, skits, or anything else (humorous or serious). Please keep this in mind as you plan for the week.
Travel
As outlined in the MVS Handbook, travel to and from orientation as well as to and from the unit is the participant's personal expense. We therefore encourage volunteers to make their travel arrangements early in order to take advantage of lower prices.
If you plan to fly to the orientation, a shuttle will take you from Chicago Midway and South Bend airports to the camp. To eliminate multiple airport runs and ensure everyone is able to participate in the full orientation, plan to arrive at Midway airport by 2 p.m. (Central time), or at South Bend, Ind., airport by 4 p.m. (Eastern time). You will be picked up at the baggage claim area. Please schedule your return flight for after 2:00 p.m. (Eastern time) on Friday.
If you prefer to fly into Chicago O’Hare, take the transit service to the Loop and then to Midway airport. For more information on travel from O'Hare to Midway visit the Chicago Transit Authority Web site. If you have flight delays or other changes during your travel, please call Hugo Saucedo at 210-854-2533 or Ben Regier at 316-772-0466.
