Officially formed in 2001, the DOOR Network (now Discovering Opportunities
for Outreach and Reflection) exists to provide opportunities that
help inform, educate, challenge and motivate people to respond to
the issues and concerns facing an increasingly urban world. This
network of programs helps people See the Face of God in the city."
It creates an environment where through service opportunities, groups
are exposed to urban issues and challenged to explore the city in
a non-stereotypical way by learning directly from the people who
live in the city. Informal partners also include other Mennonite
service learning programs, such as PRAXIS
in Vancouver, TOOLS in Toronto and SWAP in Harlan, Ky. Although Anabaptist/Mennonite in origin, DOOR cities receive participants from more than 20 denominations and work with many different social service agencies.
