1 Church Ministry - Spain
Youth from the Mennonite church in Burgos, Spain, are
involved in youth outreach ministry in Northern Ireland
July 28-Aug. 9. Brian and Noelia Fox request prayer that
the group maintain unity and learn how to do outreach.
2 Church Ministry - Ukraine
Cliff and Natasha Dueck in Ukraine request prayer
for the children’s day camp held during this month. Pray
that God will inspire church members to express love and
wisdom as they work with the children.
3 Church Ministry - Niger/Ivory Coast
Pray for mission associate Martine Audeoud, Niger, as
she teaches an adult education class and leads Bible studies
Aug. 4-11 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
4 Church Ministry - U.S.
Mennonite Voluntary Service volunteers are attending
orientation today through Friday and will begin service
in units across the U.S. Pray for God’s peace as they
transition into their new environments.
5 Church Ministry - Mongolia
Join Laura Schlabach in praise to God that workers
and staff of Joint Christian Services, Mongolia, are able
to gather together today through Friday. Pray for spiritual
renewal for all.
6 Church Ministry - Argentina
Pray for technicians, indigenous Pilagá readers and
coordinators Byrdalene and Willis Horst, who will be
recording a dramatized version of the Pilagá language New
Testament during the entire month of August.
7 Church Ministry - U.S.
Dick Davis, Mission Network minister of urban ministries, provides
leadership for the Urban Initiative Task Group and Urban Leaders
Network. Pray for vision and wisdom to forge a holistic approach to
urban ministry.
8 Church Ministry - U.S.
Please pray for Mission Network’s marketing/communication
department as this month it evaluates and makes plans for the next
fiscal year, including Network’s presentation at the 2009 Assembly in
Columbus, Ohio.
9 Church Ministry - Middle East
Please pray for Christian pastors in the Middle East as they seek to
articulate the good news in the midst of political instability.
10 Church Ministry - U.S.
As Mission Network’s U.S. Ministries staff meets with area
conferences to review a recent church planting survey, pray that
conference leadership will have insights into ways to form new
communities of faith.
11 Church Ministry - Colombia
Mission workers Amanda and Gamaliel Falla request prayer
that by the end of the year there will be four congregations on the
Caribbean coast that qualify by membership and leadership to form an
established region of the Colombia Mennonite Church.
12 Church Ministry - U.S.
Praise God that Sonido de Alabanza, a Mennonite congregation
in Cicero, Ill. is having significant growth. Pray that enhancing their
facilities will give greater opportunities to share God’s love and grace.
13 Ministry with Women and Families - Japan
Mission associates Angela and Tomoki Yamanaka, Hokkaido,
Japan, request prayer for the salvation of families who are becoming
involved in church through children’s ministry and a mother-and-child
English outreach.
14 Ministry with Families - Media
Pray for additional opportunities to place the Another Way
newspaper column in secular newspapers. Written by Melodie Davis of
Mennonite Media, the column speaks to family concerns.
15 Ministry with Families - Bolivia
Mission worker Margrit Kipfer Barrón, Bolivia, requests prayer
that the daycare center at Esmirna, a Mennonite church in Santa Cruz,
Bolivia, will be able to build better facilities for the children.
16 Centers - South Korea
Karen Spicher requests prayer for the university students studying
English this summer at Connexus, Korea Anabaptist Center’s language
institute. Pray they will feel God’s love through people there.
17 Community Outreach - U.S.
Radical Journey participants are concluding their assignments with
ministry in their home congregations. Pray they may integrate their
experiences and seek a lifestyle of service.
18 Community Outreach - China
James and Michelle Stabler-Havener request prayer for local Chinese
churches and other Sichuan earthquake survivors as they continue
working together to rebuild their communities.
19 Community Outreach - Senegal
Pray for a project in Senegal which offers monthly medical assistance
to street children. A mission worker asks for prayer for a full-time leader
to take care of this project.
20 Community Outreach - U.S.
Pray for energy and wisdom for new Service Adventure unit leaders
preparing for the arrival of participants: Beth and Marcos Wright Kuhns,
Philippi, W.Va.; Kirsten and Randall Schlabach, Johnstown, Pa.; Darrin
and Paula Snyder Belousek, Raleigh, N.C.
21 Community Outreach - Mongolia
Joint Christian Services in Mongolia, a consortium to which Mission
Network belongs, has an urgent need for a long-term medical doctor to
serve JCS staff and work in the Yonsei Hospital. Pray that God will call
someone to this position.
22 Church Ministry - Japan
Mary Beyler requests prayer for refreshing fellowship as the seven
Mennonite churches of the central Tokachi region of Hokkaido, Japan,
gather tomorrow and Sunday for their annual summer gathering.
23 Church Ministry - France
Pray for French Mennonite leaders in full-time ministry who gather
for a retreat held tomorrow through Tuesday in Bienenberg, Switzerland.
Janie and Neal Blough and Linda Oyer will join in this time for spiritual
renewal.
24 Community Outreach - Thailand
A team of doctors and nurses along with members of the Living
Water Church will conduct a medical mobile clinic in villages
surrounding Borabu, Thailand, tomorrow and Tuesday. Pat and Rad
Houmphan request prayer that this ministry will demonstrate the power
of God to bring healing and hope.
25 Community Outreach - Media
Pray for people contacting radio stations on behalf of
Mennonite Media about using the “Unsung: Family Voices on
Mental Illness” radio spots in their community.
26 Community Outreach - U.S.
As Youth Venture teams return from their service
assignments in North America or other countries, pray that
participants will integrate their experiences into their daily
lives and faith formation.
27 Community Outreach - Sudan
Please pray for a Mission Network couple who will lead a
business development training for leaders and church planters
next month in Sudan. Creating small businesses helps sustain
them financially with a legitimate role in their society.
28 Community Outreach - U.S.
Pray for DOOR’s participants, completing a year of
service through the DWELL program, as they transition to
the next phase of their lives.
29 Teaching - U.S.
Pray that students, tutors and staff will gain new energy
for the coming year as they attend the annual student retreat
of Instituto Biblico Anabautista today through Monday in
Spring City, Tenn.
30 Teaching - Middle East
Pray for Jeannie and Wayne Larson in the Persian Gulf
region. Jeannie is teaching music lessons and interacting
with some younger believers, especially mothers with small
children.
31 Education - U.S.
Jim and Paula Hanes and children Amanda and Aaron
are moving to Wheaton, Ill., where Jim will do Intercultural
Studies at Wheaton College Graduate School. Pray they will
remain dependent upon God during this transition period.
