Mennonite Voluntary Service
Started in 1944, Mennonite Voluntary Service (MVS) is the oldest continuing voluntary service program in Mennonite circles. MVS invites people from a variety of backgrounds and ages to walk with people who are disadvantaged and suffering from injustice, participate in issues and activities of a local neighborhood and faith community, live simply in a shared household where relationships can be affirmed and nurtured and serve as an extension of a local congregation.
Rooted in the spirit of Jesus, MVS invites people from a variety of backgrounds and ages to walk with people who are disadvantaged and suffering from injustice, participate in issues and activities of a local neighborhood and faith community, live simply in a shared household where relationships can be affirmed and nurtured and serve as an extension of a local congregation. MVS may also occasionally develop assignments in response to an individual's unique gifts, interests and objectives.
$175 pays for the cost of the week-long orientation for one MVS worker, preparing them for life in their new community. (#0861)
